What is Considered an Emergency?

An emergency repair is a situation that:

  • Poses an immediate risk to health, safety, or the property

  • Could cause injury or major damage if not addressed quickly

  • Makes the property unsafe, uninhabitable, or unsecure

 

Emergency Contacts

For critical emergencies, contact the appropriate services first:

  • Fire: Call 000 immediately

  • Break-in or Trespassing: Call Police Assistance on 131 444

  • Storm or Natural Disaster Damage: Call SES on 132 500

A qualified tradesperson will assess the situation and determine if after-hours attendance is necessary for your safety.

 

Common Emergency Situations

Water Leak

  • Locate the source of the leak if safe to do so

  • Turn off the main water supply if accessible

  • Contact our plumbing contractor immediately and notify A ONE Real Estate

  • For severe flooding, take photographs for potential insurance claims

No Hot Water

  • Check if all taps are affected or only certain ones

  • Inspect the hot water system for issues (e.g., pilot light outage)

  • While inconvenient, this may not always be classed as an emergency

Power Outage

  • Confirm if your neighbours are also without power (it may be a local outage)

  • Check your switchboard for any tripped circuit breakers or blown fuses

  • If power is still not restored, contact our licensed electrician

Gas Leak

  • Turn off the gas supply at the main switch immediately if it is safe

  • Avoid using electrical devices or creating any flames

  • Contact a licensed plumber urgently to inspect and repair

Locked Out or Access Issues

  • If your only point of entry is damaged or fails to operate, contact our locksmith as this is considered an emergency

  • If you lock yourself out accidentally, you may contact the locksmith, but you will be responsible for the cost

Blocked Toilet

  • If you have another working toilet in the home, this is not an emergency

  • If the blocked toilet is your only one, contact our plumber immediately for urgent assistance
